Introduction

When we see the beautiful landscape pictures of other countries, we get fascinated by those photographs. People from India prefer international trips during their vacations. But when I visited Ladakh for the first time in 2006, I found that India itself is a very beautiful country and we can discover surprisingly incredible and captivating locations. In 2007, I again planned a visit to Ladakh, in a different season and was amazed to find entirely new shades of that place, in one it was all white and grey, the other entirely colorful.

When I planned my first visit to Ladakh in the year 2006, I did not know much about the locations, the climate, culture, etc., the sole motive was to seek adventure and capture some great shots. I drove a Maruti 800 from Delhi and covered 3000 Kilometers. En route to Ladakh my first destination was Manali then Keylong, Pang, finally Leh and came back to Delhi via Kargil, Drass, Sonmarg, Srinagar and Jammu.

Ladakh is a place for adventure seekers, nature lovers and most of all, the Photographers! The place is a store of Adventurous Mountains, Hills, Lakes, and Monasteries. Ladakh is popular for its beauty and culture. I’ve made six visits so far and each time the experience was totally amazing. It’s a must visit for everyone, definitely worth it. I’ve gathered some great memories and experience from all those trips. THOSE WONDROUS KILOMETERS will take you on a virtual tour to the beautiful locations that I captured through my camera, I’m sure you’ll instantly fall in love with the place as I did.

Introduction

The vibrant Indian IT products and services ecosystem has exhibited resilience and adaptability in continually reinventing itself and raised multiple billion dollar companies in the past decade. The new generation of innovative Indian entrepreneurs are embracing emerging technologies, deepening  focus on emerging markets to fuel the next wave of growth.

With the nature of business challenges becoming increasingly complex and the global environment intensely competitive and niche, the next wave of strategies required by Indian IT entrepreneurs to take that big leap, calls for building successful alliances, co-creating custom solutions, generating innovative business models for sustainable competitive advantage in the new ecosystem.  Taking A Big Leap forms the central theme for EmergeOut Delhi this year.

While some avid surfers are constantly scouring the sea of opportunities for the next wave, others have successfully scaled through the rough tide and revolutionized the Indian IT industry. EmergeOut is aimed at facilitating a Peer-to-Peer exchange platform to help entrepreneurs learn from each other, where exchange of ideas can help generate innovative solutions to help your businesses respond faster and more creatively to market challenges and opportunities. The sessions have been specifically designed with three key objectives including entrepreneurial capacity building, enabling market access, and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.

WiSE India INWES Regional Conference 2012

WiSE INDIA Logo

What is common between Marie Curie, Kalpana Chawla and Grace Murray Hopper?

Well…while Kalpana Chawla was the astronaut from India with two space flights to her credit, Marie Curie was the two times Nobel Laureate best known for her contribution to radioactivity, and Grace Murray Hooper is the inventor of the programming language COBOL. These, as the many others like them, are women at the frontiers of science and technology who have transformed the world around us with their inventions and insights.

Women have long busted the myth about not being equipped enough to work alongside and at par with men. And now even science and technology, the ultimate triumph of human civilization, has ceased to be the monopoly of men.  Not only a few but millions of women are working today as scientists, engineers, educators, tech innovators and more, heralding in a new era of human advancement.

Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) aims to bring together women in all these fields and provide a platform for dissemination and sharing of knowledge, mentoring, professional development and networking opportunities to facilitate the success of women in the science and engineering related fields. WiSE also aims to create career opportunities for women by increasing awareness, providing support, enhancing capacity building and by influencing policies for promoting women in these fields.

To further its cause of building better prospects for women in science and engineering through their active participation and involvement, WiSE India recently announced the organizing of the Regional Conference of the International Network of Women Engineers & Scientists (INWES). It promises to be an enriching two-day event which will provide opportunities for people in the industry and the fields of science and technology to discuss innovative engineering, science and technological practices and projects and to network with colleagues in business, academia and government.

In a country where working women are yet to claim their rightful place and science and technology can go a long way in addressing the issue plaguing the people, participation of more and more women in the fields of Science and technology provides a brilliant way forward towards a better future. With this International conference, WiSE promises to do just that by providing speakers to familiarize the women with the vast pool of opportunities available before them in these fields and also by making available forums and resources to discuss ideas and issues affecting women in scientific careers and invites an audience from a diverse range of engineering, science and technology professions, practitioners, academia, industry and students.

So here’s to a better future with women scientists and engineers leading from the front – to WiSE India and to the conference.

Be there to see the future being built in front of your eyes!

“A youth without fire is followed by an old age without experience.”

The Youth are not only leaders of tomorrow, but also partners of today. We at IYF are an inspired young team of individuals with a shared mission; a mission to change the world. With India witnessing a radical change in the mindset of people towards governance and policies, and increasing despondency among people due to continuous compromise of citizens’ welfare, there is a rising need to address the grass root challenges of development and focus on making the world self-reliant through both – individual and cooperative efforts.

We aim to connect various Student Groups, NGO’s, Social Organizations and Youth Communities to work together for a better future.

The Forum will be centered around the theme ‘Role of Youth in Indian Renaissance’ with discussions, seminars and competitions based on Social Entrepreneurship, Model Governance and Citizens’ Participation.

IYF is an initiative by Youth of India and Alexis Society has taken the lead as its Principal Organizer. Last time when we came together, we built a nation. This time, let us reform the world.
